I could eat breakfast any time of day. It’s good for lunch, it’s good for dinner, or what my family likes to call “breakdin.” There’s nothing like a good smack your lips, lick your fingers kinda meal. And that’s what happens at The Pancake Pantry, located at 1796 21st Avenue. It’s a Nashville tradition, and believe it or not after all these years living here, I had never been. Thank goodness for out-of-towners! We decided to venture out one Saturday and give it a try. I hear the line gets pretty long and when we arrived it was wrapped around the building. But these folks have it down. We were inside and eating in less than an hour!
So, how’s it taste?
It was absolutely worth the 45-minute wait. I had the Bacon and Eggs, which is two strips of bacon, two eggs your way, and three buttermilk pancakes. Let me tell you they hit the spot. I was in the mood for some delicious bacon and this place fit the bill. The pancakes were so light and fluffy. I’d like to go back and try one of there specialty pancakes like Sweet Potato or Orange Walnut or the Caribbean. But the true showstopper was the French Toast. It’s a huge serving, so be prepared to share. Arranged on your plate in a flower shape with a huge dollop of butter in the middle, the thick slices of french toast are grilled and dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Their homemade syrup is sweet perfection on top. You also have the option of cinnamon cream syrup, which sounds tasty, but we all preferred the maple. A definite hit with my crowd of food lovers!
Nice review, great restaurant!
I still feel snubbed.
Now I want pancakes!!!
I am from Montana visited nashville and the pancake pantry just last week. It was a amazing. Cinnamon cream syrup is to die for. Wait in line for breakfast? Totally worth the wait! What a fun experience.
I was in Nashville over Mothers Day weekend visiting my college son, and we went on Tuesday around “brunchtime” (around 11:30). Got the pecan pancakes with the butter pecan syrup. Hands down the best pancakes I ever ate. Delicious and they were so lite, I ate them all and did not have that feeling afterwards like I ate more than I should have. Plus, Lyle Lovatt came in for his pancakes while we were there. Gotta love Nashville!
