I realize Nashville isn’t the only town with some tasty eats, so I thought it would be fun to start blogging about my traveling eats. First up is Sango, Tenn, found just outside the Clarksville city limits. In a city that is heavy on chain restaurants, it was nice to come across the Village Deli, located in Sango Village at 3371 Hwy 41A South. The menu is fairly small, but you can choose from salads, paninis, wraps, sandwiches, and they serve breakfast as well. My mom and I came into the cozy deli and as we placed our order, I asked about celery in the chicken salad. Lucky for us, the owner let us have a taste! The chicken salad was delicious and I’m happy to report there was no celery in sight. It had a sweet and sour taste with a nice crunch from…cucumbers! I’ll get the whole sandwich on my next visit!
So, how’s it taste?
I had the Smoking Jack Turkey Panini. It had smoked turkey, hot pepper jack, tomatoes, and chipotle dressing, with some added quacamole at my request. Ooey, gooey, cheesy, grilled heaven! It was so fresh and the chipotle dressing was crazy good. All the ingredients went so well together. Such a surprisingly good flavor from a seemingly everyday sandwich. Next taste was my mom’s order, the Village Wrap. Seasoned grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sweet Italian dressing all wrapped in a sun-dried tomato tortilla. Once again I was amazed at the freshness. The chunks of grilled chicken were tender and perfectly grilled, and just a hint of sweetness from the dressing. Both sandwiches were such generous portions, and reasonably priced for a win-win situation. If you’re ever in Sango’s neck of the woods, be sure and pay them a visit!
